Indian concept of ‘tolerance’ has been represented in various forms in the poetry of the Safavid period. The land of India is the cradle of culture and civilization, and the invention of a divine religion by Akbar Shah shows the readiness of the Indian society for religious pluralism. On the other hand, the strong presence of the standard-bearers of Islamic-Iranian mysticism and Sufism, who, in different ages, found India safe for the dissemination of their ideas, prepared the Persian culture for the complete reception of these ideas. Therefore, pictorial poets like Saeb Tabrizi in this space opened the way for the spreading of Indian ideas in the poetry of the Safavid period. With a descriptive-analytical method, the present study aims to investigate the various aspects of Saeb's thoughts and his imagery methods and show the influence of Indian teachings in compiling the tolerating thoughts of Saeb Tabrizi. The results of the research indicate that Saeb Tabrizi introduced total peace, uniformity, tolerance against slander, openness, unexpected forgiveness, error concealment, and benevolence as the manifestations of tolerance; he considers these tokens as a means of achieving human comfort.
